Pony History

The Brentwood Baseball Club added two youth teams to it's ranks in 2007, see the BBF announcement from April 2007. The Bucks Bronco team for 10-13 year olds and the Bucks Pony team for the older 14-16 year olds.

2007

In it's inaugural season the Bucks Pony team were not members of the BBF league, due to the small roster of the fledgeling team. The Ponys did, however, train and play on a regular basis, the highlight of the season being the annual 'Warley Shield', a parents vs kids exhibition, which was a great success with everyone enjoying the Home Run Derby and game.

2008

2008 saw the Bucks Pony team take it's place in the BBF Pony South league for the first time. Alongside the Bracknell Tornadoes, the BaseballMK Spitfires, the Burgess Hill Redhats Pony and the London Mets Pony, the 2007 National Champions. Early in the season the Spitfires from Milton Keynes were forced to disband due to issues with their home diamond, the Bucks Pony benefitted from this dissolution by adding a number of former Spitfires to their roster, sadly this didn't have the desired effect on the team who ended the season with only a single win, against the high flying Tornadoes. Unfortunately, due to the forfeit of three games against the London Mets that win was chalked off and the Ponys posted a 0-8 record for 2008. The 'Warley Shield' again proved to be a big hit as the kids once again put on a great show to teach their elders a thing or two. - See the 2008 Pony Schedule & Standings

2009

2009 again saw the Bucks Pony in the BBF Pony South league facing the Horsham Hornets, the London Mets Pony and the 2008 National Champions, the Bracknell Tornadoes. The season started with a very difficult double header at the champions, sadly it was a sign of things to come as the Ponys travelled home with two heavy losses to their name. Poor form continued well into mid July and following a forfeited double header again in Bracknell the Ponys hit a rich vein of runs despatching 35 runs over two games at Horsham, then overcoming the London Mets Pony by an aggregate of 22-19 at Warley Field. The season ended as it began with a pair of losses against the Tornadoes on home territory. Bracknell would once again be crowned National Champions, and the Bucks Ponys would finish with 4 wins, but a record of 3-17 following another win deduction for forfeits. - See the 2009 Pony Schedule & Standings
